Who Am I?

My name is Kate, or K. E., if we’re talking about my writing.

I’m a writer in my twenties, a vaguely recent college grad, and a hectically organized trash can fire. I created this website to market myself, sure, but I also created it because when I looked for guidance, all the blogs were sophisticated authors that seemed out of touch with youth and struggle. There wasn’t anything relatable and nothing even close to the fiction I longed to read and write. So this site exists fill that gap, the hole for struggling young authors who don’t even know what their dream is yet.

If you’re on this page, you’re curious, so I’ll tell you just a little bit. Like I said, my name is Kate and I’m a young author, among other things. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in December of 2019, with a BA in Government and History, plus minors in Middle Eastern and Religious studies.

My two big dreams are to be a novelist or published author and to be a school counselor. Because I want to work full-time with my students, the idea of also working on fiction makes me anxious. But then again, most things make me anxious.

I’ve been writing since I was very young, though I’m not entirely convinced I’ll ever quite figure out the craft. It’s something I love, though, and I have many, many stories to tell. Being an author also allows me the opportunity to fight racism, homophobia, transphobia, and sexism, as well as many other issues that are near and dear to my heart. In fact, combatting these things is the responsibility of authors and of everyone, really.

Mental health is a life-long battle for me, meaning I have to be cautious about how and with whom I spend my time. I’m a devout introvert and my alone time is sacred.

I identify as a bisexual non-binary femme, floating between femininity and androgyny. Like any good simp, I adore my partner, and like any good bi, I love my cats and cuffed jeans. My pronouns are she/they.

This site serves as my catch all and I’m sure the organization conveys that clearly. If finding something is too difficult, please let me know!

In short, this site is just hectic. My work is here, as are my thoughts, plus some links to resources. I’m ever-searching for suggestions, so if you have any, shoot me an email at kateelise@kedwrites.com.
